BOARD of DIRECTORS

BNAI´s Board of Directors are volunteer citizens from both Mexico and the U.S. (Bisbee, Naco, Douglas and Agua Prieta) with extensive experience in the arts, educational and community work in binational settings.

Lori Keyne Executive Director, Co-founder

Lori is a musician, educator and researcher. Lori received her DMA from the University of Arizona and is an instructor of music at Cochise College, where she founded a binational choir. Her choirs have performed at international conferences, including America Cantat, College Music Society Conference in San Jose, Costa Rica and the Latin American Choral Music International Conference in Tucson, Arizona. Música sin Fronteras, the chorus for the Bi-national Arts Institute, has performed in Mexico, Panamá, and Cuba. She was a guest lecturer at the 2014 International  Federation of Choral Music in Seoul, Korea. She received a Fulbright Border Award in 2011 as well as in 2016, and works with musicians in Sonora, Mexico. Lori delights in musical collaborations that include contributing performers from different countries.

Seth Polley President, Board Co-chair and Co-founder

Seth is an award-winning social studies teacher at Bisbee High School, former vicar at St. John’s and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Churches, and former director of the Episcopal Border Ministry. He and Lori Keyne, who are married, lived and worked in Panama for several years, where she taught at the University of Panama while he was priest-in-charge of the Episcopal Cathedral.

Eric Lodge Secretary

Eric is a Chemistry Instructor at Cochise College and long-time Binational Chorus member. His personal focus is how to transcend the sadness of the border wall through music and art.

Jacquie Phagan Treasurer

Jacquie is an active community member who has been involved in BNAI from the start. Her whole life is a binational experience and she loves music.

Elizabeth Henson former Board of Directors

Beth has a Ph.D. in Latin American History from the University of Arizona. She has extensive experience in academic and cultural settings in Chihuahua, Zacatecas, and Mexico City and received a Fulbright Dissertation Grant in 2012. She was co-director of the Bisbee Poetry Festival in 1984–85.

 

Arturo Chacón Board of Directors

Arturo was the Sonoran Student Recruiter at Cochise College and promotes the Binational Chorus and the Bi-National Arts Institute in schools throughout Sonora in order to create a better understanding of both cultures through music.

Bijoyini Chatterjee Board of Directors

Bijoyini is a filmmaker, photographer and dancer based in Bisbee, AZ. She is the co-founder of Onirica Productions – an audiovisual production company. Currently Bijoyini is working on a documentary “What Happened to our Dreams (working title)” about the portrait of the 60s generation from the counterculture movement that changed the social and cultural landscape of a former mining town called Bisbee, AZ. She has just released her first film Flamenco Syndrome that explores the flamenco culture in the lower Andalucia.
